Open the Camper Door
Welcome to Russellville, Arkansas
Every time we are here we encounter severe weather. Being in tornado warnings and straight line winds in a camper is awesome!! We are getting our bad weather for the next few days. I hope nothing too severe.

Well, last week we were in the suburbs of Fort Worth. We can back our camper in Brian’s drive and live like the Griswalds. His neighbors must think we are crazy, but we love it. We set up in his drive and get to spend plenty of time with the family with the comfort of our own beds. This year was special because Brent’s Uncle Dennis and Aunt Carol were visiting at the same time. They brought their daughter, Rebecca, down for spring break. Mason and Makayla love spending time with Rebecca, Sara and Benjamin. We had a great time and got a lot of work done.

Field Trip to South Padre and the Del Rio, Texas.
We’ve now been in south Texas for 2 weeks. The first week was 100 degrees and we were loving the heat. The second week was cold and rainy. We have been moving along the Texas/Mexico border. There has been tons of media coverage regarding all the drug violence along the border. We have been lucky and not seen this. We see plenty of border control vehicles and welcome all the extra protection.

Anyway, last week Brent’s parents came to visit. Ron did some fishing on Falcon Lake and Pat and I took the kids to South Padre for two days. We had a really good time. Mason and Makayla love to be with Pat (mimi) and she is always a blast. She loves to explore and seems to find something fun at every town we visit. We just missed the spring break partiers. The kids love the ocean and we are can’t wait for our family vacation in Destin this April.

The Classic Week

OK, The Classic was tough. We are grateful that Brent qualified and we had a good time…But it really wears you out. Brent finished in 27th place (not exactly what he hoped for.)

Shreveport was fun. The kids love staying in the big hotels. The Hilton had a heated pool on the roof and a hot tub. Makayla was in heaven and loved the hot tub. She likes the camper, but this year she is really homesick. She misses her friends at Lake Quivira. She asks to go see Grace almost everyday. She talks about Grace’s dogs and really wants to have a play date with her. It’s hard to explain to her why she can’t see her friend. I told her we could mail a card and she insisted we hand deliver a letter. I’m sure she will feel better after more play time with her travelling friends.

Heading to the Classic

It’s official!! We leave the house in the Monday morning. The camper is loaded and the kids are so excited to be in Shreveport and see all their friends.

We had a great final week at home. Some friends at the Lake threw us a little ‘send off’ party on Saturday. We had some good wine, good cheese and hung out with some great friends. We had a blast and will miss everyone. The good news is that we will be home for the summer.

February- already?
I had a great week!! For starters…I actually reached my goal at the gym. I have been working with a fantastic personal trainer at 24 hour fitness and feel healthy and strong. Love it!! I also had two ladies nights out this week. This is unusual for a homebody like me. We had a Lake Quivira Mother’s Club social on Thursday and I went out on the town with some friends on Saturday. I am spoiled.

Somewhere in all my fun, I actually did work. Brent and I have been finishing his jersey and finalizing sponsorship deals for 2009. Pat and Ron picked up the truck and boat this weekend. They look great. And, my taxes are almost done. I meet with the accountant tomorrow afternoon. It is always a relief to have the taxes done before we travel.

I am getting excited to head to Shreveport. Next week we will wrap up all loose ends and start the tournament trail. We are big time procrastinators. We have a ton of things to do this week and we’ll get it all done in the nick of time.
