Elite Series angler Chapman scores trophy buck near Kansas home |
|
Brent Chapman must be feeling a little like he just won a BASS event.
The Elite Series angler killed the largest buck of his life the Saturday after Thanksgiving while bow hunting an hour from his home in Lake Quivira, Kan.
"I told my wife I feel like a tournament just ended," the 36-year-old said. "The exhaustion is gone. Deer hunting for me is like a month-long or two-month long tournament."
A tournament he won, obviously. After countless hours working the land and 50 hours in the tree stand, Chapman arrowed a buck that green-scored 183 Boone and Crockett inches.
"It's the biggest buck I've ever shot," he said. "I live in the area where they shoot the big ones. They don't live around every tree, but I finally shot a true trophy.
"My passion is deer hunting and there's not a better place than home."
